Authenticode Digital Signatures
Looking for a stand-alone Authenticode Digital Signature
Utility? Check out our
X2Net SignCode product.
Signing your code with a Digital Signature assures
your customers that the presentation really comes from you
and hasn't been altered or corrupted since it was created
and signed. A Digital Signature serves as virtual
"shrinkwrap" for your presentation. After you sign your
presentation, if it is tampered with in any way, the
Digital Signature will break and alert customers that
the presentation has been altered and is not trustworthy.
Beginning with the Microsoft XP Operating System with
Service Pack 2 installed, if your customer downloads and
tries to run your presentation and you have not digitally
signed it then he will get a warning...

which may well frighten your potential customer enough to
stop him running your presentation. However, if you sign
your presentation with a Digital Signature your
customer instead gets a dialog box confirming who the
publisher was...

and if he clicks on the name of the publisher he will get
further information about the publisher and confirmation
that the Digital Signature is valid.
The WebCompiler Project Manager can automatically sign
your code after compilation. To do so you will need your own
Digital Certificate from a Certificate Issuing Authority,
and also a code signing tool from Microsoft.
